Check what your insurer needs
Read the security requirements in your own policy before choosing a tracker. The exact wording matters more than a product name on a website.
Four things to look for
You can usually find tracker requirements in your policy schedule or security endorsement. If the wording is unclear, ask your insurer or broker to confirm it in writing.
The exact category
Does your policy say Thatcham S5, S7, a named model or a particular feature? An S5 system includes driver recognition. Standard S5 tracking does not necessarily stop the vehicle starting.
Monitoring and subscription
Check whether the system must be monitored and whether an active subscription is required throughout your cover.
Fitting and proof
Look for any deadline to fit the system and any installation certificate or other proof your insurer wants.
Any existing system
If your vehicle already has a tracker, ask whether your insurer accepts that exact system and its current subscription.
